Electric Brakes on boat trailers normally have an electric over hydraulic system.

This style of controller require 2 wires from the vehicle to the trailer; one blue wire to regulate the power (tells the pump how fast to pump), and a red wire to supply power to the pump.

How will these 2 wires connect to the boat trailer?

Blue Wire – has a dedicated pin; Pin 2 in a 7-Pin socket is used for the Blue Wire.

Red Wire – can be in a number of ways;

1/ Separate 2 pin connector (Anderson Plug)

2/ One of the larger pins in a 12-Pin socket

3/ Replace the Reverse wire in a 7-Pin socket*

*(This is not recommended because if another trailer is connected, then the reverse lights will be on constantly when towing)
