Weight Distribution Systems

Caravanning with a Hayman Reese Weight Distribution system creates peace-of-mind for the passengers and a more relaxed experience for the driver.

In the long run, better fuel economy & reduced tyre wear are extra benefits.

Although the ball weight doesn’t change, the trailer load is distributed over all axles, by correctly setting up your Hayman Reese Weight Distribution system.

Operating Balance is restored and the vehicle & trailer travel in sync.
Choosing the correct Hayman Reese Weight Distribution system for your needs is simple

1/ Weigh the ball load use the Hayman Reese Ball Weight Scale under the coupling. Unwind the jockey wheel until all the weight is on the scale. Record the weight, then use the Ball Weight Chart to decide on a suitable kit.

2/ Locate the coupling position on the caravan A-Frame Top, Middle, or Bottom?

3/ Measure A frame depth this is important to determine correct clearance.

A Classic Kit will allow more ground clearance while a Standard Kit gives more A-frame clearance.

A Hayman Reese adjustable ballmount shank range is an option, if there is a serious height difference between the caravan coupling and the towbar.

Park your vehicle and caravan on level ground. Wind the jockey wheel so the caravan is level. Adjust the height of the ballmount head, attach the spring bars to the ballmount, and hook the chains loosely to the snap up bracket.

Gradually, tighten up the spring bars by reducing the number of chain links between the springbar and the snap up bracket until the car and caravan are sitting level. Insert the snap up clip on either side, check that everything is tight ...... take a test drive around the neighbourhood.....check again that the coupling and the weight distribution system is all in place.PS This is a guide only, please follow the manufacturers instructions during setup. Its not advisable to have spring bars in place during off road travel or when performing tight turns.
